Basic characteristics:The project, started in September 2013, is the largest invasive species invasion and waterfowl habitat restoration project in the East Asian-Australasian flyaway, including three major construction contents of the ecological control of spartina, bird habitat optimization and scientific research monitoring infrastructure, with a total area of about 25 square kilometers, which will better serve the Chongming world-class ecological island and Shanghai ecological livable city construction.
Proactively take the combination of ecology and engineering against the invasion and expansion of spartina in Dongtan reserve to effectively treat the spartina and restore the function of the bird's habitat, maintain and expand the bird species and population, improve the quality of the important international wetlands in Chongming Dongtan, provide a "replicable and generable" experience for controlling the exotic invasive species and exploring the protection and rational utilization in China's coastal wetland type Nature Reserve, and make contribution to the implementation of the International Convention on wetlands and the protection of global biodiversity.
