Basic characteristics:As a major livelihood project with respect to urban water supply security and tap water quality improvement, Shanghai Raw Water Engineering Project of Qingcaosha Water Source at Yangtze River Estuary mainly consists of three main works: the Qingcaosha reservoir, water intake & delivery pumps and gateways, the water delivery tunnels, the land water pipelines and booster pump stations. As the largest urban water supply project currently, it can supply water of up to 7.19 million cubic meters per day, benefiting more than 13 million people. The project was put into operation at the end of 2010, and the raw water quality reached Category II to III, forming the strategic pattern of "two rivers and multiple sources" for raw water supply in Shanghai. It marks Shanghai's breakthrough in enhancing water source construction and protection, as well as in improving urban water supply services. Also, it is of great strategic significance in safeguarding Shanghai's economic and social sustainable development, and advancing the "innovation-driven transformation and development".
